Coming Up with Yearbook Ideas and Themes

Graduating classes are often given a yearbook by their alma mater to serve as a memento of their time as students. Although each yearbook is specific to the batch of students graduating for a particular year, some of the schools responsible for distributing the books sometimes have difficulty making the publications extra special every year. Certain schools have even resorted to reusing the same themes and layouts from previous yearbooks in order to save themselves from having to design new ones.

It can be hard to find good thematic ideas for yearbooks, especially if a school has already tried many different things. That is why schools often organize yearbook committees in order to put together worthy publications that many will fondly remember. It is the job of a committee to come up with exciting ideas for the yearbook, such as specific layouts, designs, covers, and so on. Often, committees settle on an idea that the entire graduating batch can agree upon.

While yearbook committees are formed specifically in order to expedite the planning and preparation of the annual publications, the actual publishing of the book is something not all schools are properly equipped for. Thus, committees might need to coordinate with publishers outside of the school in order to create quality yearbooks in bulk. It is important for committees to get publishers involved in the process early on to ensure that the school rolls out the yearbook just in time for batch’s graduation.
